A child’s language delay may be part of a bigger problem. MindWell typically recommends an assessment to understand what is causing the problem and identify how to remediate it. We work in conjunction with speech language therapists to understand the behavioral, structural, and pragmatic reasons for a language delay.

Did You Know?

Being able to understand what is being said (receptive language) and being able to say what one is thinking (expressive language) are of equal importance. Sometimes, children have difficulties with pragmatic language, in that they don’t understand subtleties, sarcasm, or jokes.
