How can I begin to articulate the amazingness of Dr. Heisman? Several years ago, we had the blessing of being referred to Mindwell and were fortunate enough to be assigned to Dr. Heisman. We were in a state – knowing our child was struggling but, not understanding exactly with what and not knowing how to help him. It’s an incredibly scary place to be as a parent. In steps Dr. Heisman. She was incredible with our son. The testing process is lengthy and exhausting but, she made it as easy as possible. My son loved her! But, her magic didn’t end there. Dr. Heisman told me that no one knows my son’s brain better than her and generously offered to be a resource for us. Can you believe that each time my son has had new IEP goals established, that I’ve emailed Dr. Heisman and she has taken her precious time to review them and provide her guidance?!? And, that’s with no appointment! That is Dr. Heisman just being an incredibly caring, generous person – willing to share her expertise with a mom just trying to do what’s best for her son. I have referred five families to Dr. Heisman. Each of them were in despair – knowing their child needed help but, not sure what was going on and what to do. Each of those families have called me in tears after meeting with Dr. Heisman – feeling like they finally had answers and direction on what to do next. Dr. Heisman is brilliant and has a gift for understanding kids. She’s a mother herself and her genuine care for children shines through. She consistently goes above and beyond to help families. She has been such an incredible blessing to my family and my friends. I could not recommend her more!!!

“I cannot thank you enough for the level of detail and clarity that you provided in this report!!! I have seen my share of reports and this one is more conclusive and representative and provides us with the most solid foundation for us to advocate for him that I could have hoped for!! THANK YOU again!!! ❤️ ”

“I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you so very much for taking the time to really get to know our son during this testing process. Through our meeting and in this incredibly detailed report, you have given us such a comprehensive picture of where he is at currently and also given me hope for where we can go as a family.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am to have more concrete answers and a plan as to how to support him and really help him be the best he can be. I feel like you were able to identify the breakdowns and behaviors that are interfering with his everyday life and yet also celebrate his strengths, so thank you for that.

Thank you for providing us with resources we can use as a family and also for just encouraging me that there is a path forward and a lot of good here too. I know it will take a lot of effort on all of our parts, but I am so grateful to you for pointing us in the right direction. Thank you for all your time.”

“I wanted to let you know that we met with her school and they were extremely impressed with your evaluation report. Our assistant principal said it was the most thorough one she has ever seen in all her many years. Everyone was extremely receptive to your recommendations and have been excited to do all they can to help her succeed in the classroom.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you! There are not so many things that are easy in this whole process. Thanks for helping us along with a few of them over the years. We really do appreciate it.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We have come such a long way from our first meeting when he was in fourth grade. I am forever grateful to you for your firm advice to have him complete the Wilson Reading Program. I am convinced it changed his life.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I wanted to share that getting a report from Mindwell was the best move I made. In both meetings, Mindwell’s excellent reputation has been so helpful. When I’ve pulled out the report it has definitely garnered a level of respect I wouldn’t have achieved without it. They all know Mindwell’s testing is much more thorough and I’ve been so thankful to have the results to share. It was worth every penny. You have really helped to lay a game plan out for me. Thank you for all your hard work–it has been so significant and valuable to our family.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“All looks great with the report. After talking to friends and relatives who are also psychologists and neurologists, they were quite impressed with the quality of the testing and of your report. So again, thank you so much for everything!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“To provide an update since we met – her special education category has been changed to SLD, new goals have been added to her IEP, and we have found a tutor. We’ve been working on several of your other recommendations as well….I want to add that she has shown improvement. We have worked hard to try different things at home too and it has been a positive learning experience for the family. Notably, I have often referred back to my notes from your workshop on promoting motivation, and realize for kids to change, parents must first do so themselves. Thank you again for sharing all of your insights – it has made a difference.”

I cannot tell you what a relief this is.  And I want to thank you for meeting with us to get this kid on a different path.  Again the school system wants to wait and see hoping he “will really mature in tenth grade” of course each year this is what the administration has told us will happen the next year.  We still spend a lot of time on homework but there is a light at the end of the tunnel for everyone!
And it’s not just graduation, but a successful graduation and perhaps even college. Thank you, THANK YOU.
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I am unable to adequately describe the feelings that come from seeing your children begin to thrive in school, the weight of anxiety and self-doubt starting to melt away.  We are incredibly grateful for your help in this process. Thank you again.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I am so thankful for your thorough assessment. You did a beautiful job teasing out and identifying the weaknesses so we know how to approach it.
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
She left the office and said, “Can school be like that?”  She can’t wait to go next week.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you so much for taking the time to review her test results and writing the letter. This has been a long and taxing battle trying to find a solution to her ongoing struggles. It was such an emotional yet relief to finally have her diagnosed. I would recommend your expertise to anyone else who may be in our same situation.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you for all of your help. Your office has been wonderful in helping us navigate this confusing system.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We found the meeting with you informative and helpful . Your feedback was both “spot on” and concise, but delivered with compassion and generosity. More importantly, the discussion was primarily focused on her positive attributes. Going forward we are confident that she will gradually gain confidence and maturity. As you pointed out, change is slow and we all need to remind ourselves to be patient.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you SO much for taking the time to meet with us yesterday! We both found the meeting to be very interesting and informative. We were very impressed with your narrative of his case. I am very grateful that we were able to meet with you as a family unit so we will all be on the same page. The information and recommendations you provided to us will be very helpful as we transition him to high school! I just can’t thank you enough for your lovely way of addressing his strengths and weaknesses.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
Thank you very very much.  You are a gem.  I hope to change our family’s life.   Nobody has any idea except maybe practitioners like you.  Praying we can now change things with the empowerment that good information and concrete treatment can bring.   Thank you for doing what you do.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We wanted you to know that she enjoyed her time with you and still talks about it some to this day.  We have met with her school and we are in the works of getting a 504 implemented for her this school year.  We are very excited that we caught this early and we confident that we are moving in the right direction to help her with some of the obstacles associated with dyslexia.  Thank you for working with her and helping guide us to our next phase for her.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
Your evaluation is excellent and you are admired by many people I talk to.  Thank you for helping all of us that are floundering to help our kids.  It is a very intense journey.
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you for the detailed discussion of the evaluation.  We finally have a clear understanding of her disability and are better to address her needs.  I only wish I would have known to bring her to you years sooner.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you again for all you have done.  The school staff were all so impressed with how thorough your report was.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Now all my children are getting supported.  Thank you for being a part of my journey.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I am now excited about moving forward with a plan.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣

♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Overall, the information you provided seems to be have started us on directions that seen very effective.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“You continue to be the hero of all the doctors/educators who meet with us. We worry that we can’t put our immense and sincere gratitude into words. Thank you so much for your expert work. Without it we would have been lost.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“The report is excellent. I know we will be referring to it often.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I take to heart your clear message on the importance of mindfulness. “
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“After reading your report, it really made my understand my daughter more.  Your feedback will help us make her make her the best she wants to be.  Thank you again. With great gratitude.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“The testing you did was very, very helpful in making informed decisions and developing his individualized education plan.  Thank you!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
” You helped us figure out what he needed and, now that he has it, he is poised to flourish.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We feel so lucky to have crossed paths with you. Thank you for taking such great care during the evaluation process. Love the report and the suggestions and will get back to you if needed.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I lack for words: I can only say that I am deeply grateful for your diligence, patience and clinical acumen.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you so much for supporting me. I truly believe it made a difference having you there. I really can’t thank you enough. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I so appreciate your time and expertise, as well as your meticulous teasing out of the details of what is actually going on, instead of just lumping her into what I feel is the growing ADD or Aspergers piles.
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I believe your recommendations for the school setting will certainly help to show what she knows more clearly in this and future academic years.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I feel for the first time, I have an understanding and clear definitions of what is going on for her, which frankly is a relief from the nebulous swirl in my head of what may be happening, and how best could I help her. Thank you for that gift.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Our son actually enjoyed his day of testing and came home eager to tell me all about it.  He seemed to think it was “fun” which is a great tribute to your abilities.  Thank you for your comprehensive report. I have read it once and am still digesting it.  My first reaction is that you have hit the nail on the head.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We were referred to MindWell by a counselor who described them as being able to get at the root of the problem. We had both our sons tested and to our relief we did find the source of their problems…they each have layers of learning disability. Having our sons tested brought about a change in our families attitudes. All denial was displaced, and replaced by hope. As parents we had more understanding for our sons in the way they process information. We were empowered to advocate for them and bring understanding to their teachers. We grew closer as a family and enjoyed one another more.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“The testing helped me get an IEP for him that includes a reading teacher trained in the method you suggested that will help him learn to read.  I had to fight for it, but in the end, the county provided an excellent reading teacher for him. I think it is beginning to change the way my son views himself. Without the testing, we wouldn’t have gotten the specialized instruction. It helped open the door to a brighter future.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you so much for the time you spent with our family.  You have been so helpful and while it is very sad that she does have this disability it is a great comfort to us to finally have confirmation and answers.  Thank you again for your thoroughness, skill and extensive awareness of reading disabilities.  We truly appreciate your help!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Along with our obvious rave reviews for your work, I wanted you to know that the school nurse grabbed me the other day was effusive in her praise for your work.   She said in all her years in the system she has never seen a more well organized, thorough, and results-oriented report.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“It was SUCH a relief to feel that we had a complete understanding of our son, and the information we needed to address his weaknesses. Armed with this new information, we were able to place our son at a private school that could address his needs and continue developing his strengths. He is blossoming there, and we could not be happier. The critical link in our success with our son was proper testing and diagnosis.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you SO much for your services!  Our daughter would not be successful if it were not for you and your great advice and professionalism.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“It is a whole new psychosocial picture entirely, and thank goodness.  It is also very pleasing to see her working at a higher level of academic demand than ever, and so much more independently.  She has easily made up all of what she’d never gained for all my years of asking for help and then some.  It was not overnight, but 5 months is almost a blink in the big picture.  This is huge, and I thank you for the guidance you provided us, which helped us make this leap.  It was a leap of faith in our child and also in the new school, but sooo worthwhile.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I am so thankful to have met you and grateful that we had the testing done. We just made it through all the midterms. The teachers were very accommodating especially with your detailed report backing up what I was saying. The testing also allowed for more compassion and understanding from everyone in the family. She had sadness inside her that she was “stupid”, so by the grace of God we are helping her understand that she is not stupid, but she learns in a different way. So, with all that being said, thank you again.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I realize this is only the beginning of a long road with the school board, but I feel a small victory today. Her problem has been recognized, written down and strategies are being put into place referencing her needs as described in your report. It’s my opinion, based on previous conversations and letters from teachers and the principal at her school, this IEP is a direct result of the tests you administered. I will keep you up to date on her progress. Thank you!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Thank you for your hard work these last couple of days. It has been a wonderful experience. I definitely feel he was at ease with you which I feel must lend to a positive experience.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We are so grateful that you conducted such a thorough and skillful evaluation. Had you not shared your recommendation for this program, we would be floundering around wondering what to do about her situation.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“I can’t even tell you how lucky I feel that you were the one who did the evaluation. I feel like we are making progress for the first time.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“Honestly, I think with your assessment in hand, and with undying effort, we pushed the school system to accept 504′s when they did not understand them. It paved the way for others.”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“As far as accommodations and modifications, the director basically went down your list and put everything in place that you recommended. She said that she was so impressed with your report. She loved the detail and thoroughness of it, and it made it easy to see exactly where he is educationally and exactly what he needs. Again, I cannot sing your praises enough. It has been well worth the cost and travel!”
♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
“We appreciated your thorough intake and review of our daughter’s past experiences and assessments, as well as your inclusion of us in your thinking process of what assessments to administer. We were especially pleased with how well you connected with her, making her comfortable and able to show you her best skills. Given her very reserved, shy nature this was of critical importance. It was important to us that you did all of the assessment yourself and that you scheduled additional sessions as needed to accommodate her attention and stamina. We also appreciated your prompt feedback, in-depth interpretation of the results and that most of the report was detailed recommendations with references and even suggested referrals to specialists in the area. Your assessment was critical in our understanding of our daughter’s true strengths and needs and in facilitating finding the educational and remedial programs that are right for her. Your phone contact with the director of a potential school placement helped us to choose the school our daughter is now thriving in.”
