At MindWell, the psychologist you will be meeting with at your consultation will be the person you are working with for either the testing or therapy. MindWell psychologists are independent contractors. They believe in the MindWell philosophy to testing and therapy but have their own individual styles. If you are not sure you need our services, coming in for a consultation where you get to spend 1 to 1.5 hours talking with the expert about your specific concerns is invaluable. Together, we can determine what will be helpful and in some cases this may mean providing other resources if testing, or therapy is not indicated.
Therapy Consultation. During this first session, we speak with you regarding what you are struggling with and what you want to change. Cognitive-behavioral, family therapy, parent coaching or interpersonal therapy is recommended once it is determined that it is a good fit between you and the therapist. Beginning goals will be outlined and the work will begin. For children, we talk with parents and the child (if older than 12) about what each person recognizes as challenges. This is within the context of gathering developmental, family, and educational history so we know who your child is, and not just focus on what the problem is. Contact us today to schedule a therapy consultation.
Testing Consultation. A testing consultation is done with the psychologist who will be conducting the testing. We take this time to gather family, developmental, educational, and social history. We review school records and testing that may have already been completed. We determine what testing will be most helpful to answer the questions you have about you or your child’s emotional, educational, and/or developmental issues. The consultation fee is subtracted from the overall testing fee. Contact us today to schedule a testing consultation with one of our expert psychologists.
